I've been a long time reader of Dooce, thoroughly amused by Heather's stories about Chuck and Leta and the Mormon "church". I enjoy my daily dose of noodle-balancing photos and arbitrary blogger ramblings but always looked forward most to those special days when Heather opens up comments on her website - rare days, days filled with self-appraising "Firsts" and absolutely inane chatter by her vast and diverse audience.

It's been a really long time since I've seen a steady stream of open-comment posts though. I suppose massive quantities of traffic tethered to insufficient resources - either software or hardware - can kill just about anyone's website. Given the right circumstances even the heartiest of websites is bound to fail. Heather's husband, Jon explained things a bit in this post. I must say that I was overjoyed when I read about their decision to migrate to Drupal. It's always nice to see great examples of Drupal's impact in the wild.

Consider me a fan of both. Well played.

logictude,

Thanks so much!! We had excellent development support from RoopleTheme.com and Ben Durbin, both of which should be hired immediately. Great guys and the server is holding up quite well under comment loads and double pageviews!

Excellent work Drupal team! So far, so good. We're using some strong caching and have tried to minimize the use of blocks, views and modules. Because we don't have membership, I think that the server can keep up just fine.

Knock wood.

Thanks again for the kind words.
