I'm using Captcha 1.25.2.2 with Webform 1.61.2.27.

I added a captcha component to the webform, and it shows up, but no matter what i enter, the form submits successfully. Also, If i fail to enter one of the other required fields and the form gives and error and reloads, the Captcha is no longer included in the form.

Well, the best way to fix this is upgrading to Drupal 5 and CAPTCHA 5.x-3.0.

CAPTCHA version 5.x-2.x and earlier (including the 4.7.x) are known to be buggy/unstable.

In version 5.x-3.x, the CAPTCHA module got a mayor overhaul and the module is now much better.

It is very unlikely that the improvements will be backported to drupal 4.7.x
Especially now that Drupal 6 is getting shape, the priority for us, the CAPTCHA maintainers, is to port CAPTCHA to Drupal 6 and not to a version that will be outdated soon.
Note that the 5.x-3.0 overhaul was not something trivial, backporting it to 4.7.x would practically mean rewriting it from scratch. We can't invest time on this.
Sorry.

Is there any particular reason you still using Drupal 4.7?

I'm still using 4.7 on one fairly complicated site where I'm using at least one modules that has still not been updated to 5.x. I know the easiest way to fix this would be to update to 5, but that's not an option on this site at this point - is there really no way to get Captcha to work with webforms in 4.7?

I have no idea if this could work, but if you're not afraid of experimenting and a bit of Drupal hacking, you could try to install CAPTCHA 5.x-3.0 (or later) on a Drupal 4.7 test site (don't do this on a live site). Maybe with a minimal amount of hacking it's possible.
Please report your findings.

I tried this - didn't make any difference when I used the 5.x-3.0 version of the Captcha module on my 4.7 test site. Any other ideas? Has anyone been able to use Captcha with WebForm on a 4.7 site?

@njehlen: are you still struggling with this issue?
Now that Drupal 4.7 is unsupported, I would like to close this issue in an effort to clean up the issue queue.
thanks
