Can't select an all ready uploaded file

When I try to select a file that is all ready uploaded the interface tells me that nothing is selected. The select function should, I assume, change the color of the file background but it only works sometimes. Even when the select seems to work the message is still that nothing is selected.

The affected system is a D 7.21 with a updated media module from 1.3
