YouTube Video in Colorbox autoplays even if colorbox hasn't been initiated

I've created a view which lists a content type called profile which has the video embed field included in it.

The view lists 12 nodes from the content type with a colorbox trigger field that contains the video embed field.

If I set the video to autoplay, the video plays once the view loads (not when the uses evokes the colorbox trigger).

This means that all the videos autoplay at the same time.

This also means that the calls to ytimg.com are being made on page load and thereby slowing down the page.

Any help on how best to approach this would be greatly appreciated.
