I like the idea of creating something that solves problems -> the battle is halfway done with an approach like that.

Glad you liked it. Yeah, creating value definitely goes half the way. The best marketers in the world right now are Apple, in my opinion. Of course they have lots of nice touches, but I think the strongest part of their marketing is in determining the product.
