mlncn commentedTake it up with Google.
Or maybe the gmap_location module. In any case, it's not critical.

mlncn commentedSome users of http://wsf2008.net were a little disconcerted that the map above nodes with location information would initially be centered on an entirely different part of the world (North Africa, which I think is where our default map was set, approximately 0, 0) and then, usually after a brief delay, zoom over to where the node's location actually is.
We are a couple versions behind at this point I think.
(A feature request for the same block was to be able to zoom out with this map, or even let node authors set the zoom, as sometimes the zoom was closer than Google maps would display.)
Thanks,

wessex commentedI'm getting this effect too, with an added extra. When it flips to the node location, it seems as if my macro has no effect on the zoom. Instead I'm zoomed in to the maximum extent of the map, and hence most locations appear blank, or a road fills the map!
Does anyone else have this issue and any possible solutions?

bdragon commentedFix committed in http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=124609 for the original issue.
The other issues are due to some hardcoded stuff in the block view. I need to force an update of the macro somehow...
