I'd like to compile speed test results for shared web hosts hosting drupal sites. Please respond to this topic with:

The name of your shared web host
the URL of your drupal site
the approximate number of installed non-core modules

Unfortunately, shared hosting has so many variables that any one service might look terrible at one moment, and awesome at another. Unless you can get somewhere in the range of 50 sites per host (to ensure you get good distribution across many servers), and perform testing over several weeks at controlled periods of time, I'd take any 'speed test results' with a huge grain of salt. Further, to get a real indication of speed, you need to measure a lot variables only accessible via a shell account. If you're just trying to go by how fast a few sites load, you're not getting a clear picture.

Would the Site24x7 tool by Zoho be useful here?

http://site24x7.com/

I've used this tool to monitor four hosts (Dreamhost, pair Networks, Google Host, Opensourcehost) and it seems to provide some fairly interesting data (downtime, server response times, any maybe much more if you want to dig into it). I'd be willing to share the cost of a joint account if several others are interested.

With the free account, reports are publishable, for example,

Yet, history is limited to 7 days, which means DreamHost looks as good as pair Networks (when it's not, with pair's nearly flawless service). Here's the longer term individual report for Dreamhost,

and pair,

Anyone interested?
