I am installing drupal using Drupal Commerce install pack available via MS. On the install web page I get the following message repeated several times:
Warning: preg_match(): Compilation failed: disallowed Unicode code point (>= 0xd800 && <= 0xdfff) at offset 2112 in truncate_utf8() (line 339 of C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\commplus\includes\unicode.inc).
Drupal does install, however, I am not able to upload pictures. Could this error be the reason?

I doubt it.

That aside, I would steer clear of the Microsoft Drupal package. Interesting that it even exists. However, that version of Commerce Kickstart is very out of date. Get the current version here http://drupal.org/project/commerce_kickstart if you want an e-commerce site, otherwise just download the latest version of Drupal core via this site. Use the Documentation tab at the top of this site for basic info about installing and using Drupal, supplemented by other tutorials.
