We had reports from users without site credentials that the admin bar was showing up and I was able to confirm that the admin menu was cached for https requests. A cache clear and anononomyous user prime of our https cache fixed the issue but this was a bit disconcerting.

So far, I've been unable to replicate the behavior in our staging environment.

We are also using memcache and shib_auth so this problem may not be specific to the Admin Menu module but hopefully someone might be able to shed some light on this issue as I delve down the rabit hole.

I was able to replicate this problem and it appears to be related to the Shibboleth module.

Closing. Will re-open if it's shown to be Admin Menu related.
