I read an article in Web Designer magazine this month about dropping Drupal and going back to coding in php (with Codeigniter.)

Finding the Perfect CMS: SubHub CEO Evan Rudowski reveals why they abandoned the Drupal platform and looked elsewhere for a solution.

It didn't leave the reader with a good impression of Drupal.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Was this guy just expecting a ridiculous amount of flexibility from a CMS? In all fairness it seemed like he was talking more about how it was easier just to code from scratch using a framework than to jig a CMS to do what you want. But I didn't think it was very fair article since it put Wordpress in a favourable light even though it couldn't do what he wanted either.

IMHO, it is always a tiring discussion to revisit such ancient topic. He didn't define much what "perfect" is other than the title and what he expects them to serve his need.

Just my 2 cents.

Agreed! I just hate seeing bad press about Drupal and then seeing Wordpress brought up in a favourable light because it provides "market incentives" -- yet it couldn't give him what he wanted either!! Very frustrating read.
