File field input not available when inputting media image

I have set up an image entity with two fields added: caption & credits. When I try to upload an image using the "media" button in wysiwyg, a form displays momentarily which allows me to enter the alternate text and title text, but fails to display a form to allow me to enter data into the caption and credit fields. This is specific to the wysiwyg media button.

I CAN however, enter caption and credit info when using a media widget on a field. The widget allows uploading of a file, but one has to first submit the image, then click on the "edit" button in order to enter the values for entity fields that have been added to the image file entity.

When entering a media file directly from the wysiwyg form, this option never appears at all. Therefore, adding fields to a file type is totally useless until the media module can provide a form to enter this information from the wysiwyg editor. The media module is so close to being fully functional, I'm shocked that this last bit of functionality is missing, making the entire module useless . . .
