Hello,
I need some help to get my site work from the server.
I've read and followed thoroughly the instructions from
http://www.torylawson.com/mw_index.php?title=Moving_Drupal_7_site_to_a_n...
and
http://blog.merge.nl/2008/07/09/guide-moving-drupal-site-to-another-server
but it doesn't seem to change something! It's still doesn't find the server!
I have no idea what it could be!
Anyone keen on helping? It supposed to be be an easy task!
In the meantime I have 1 question.
1. Should the drupal folder be moved on the specified server folder, as a folder? Or only the contents of it?
I tried both ways anyway!
Thanks a million,
M.

only the contents get moved to your server's public root so that index.php resides where the browser can access it, and the server can serve it when calling up the domain.
Thanks for the quick
Thanks for the quick answer.
This is how I have it right now, it seemed the most logical to me.
Any ideas what could be wrong with my setup?

Can you elaborate on "doesn't
Can you elaborate on "doesn't find the server"? That could mean a number of things, some of which don't have anything to do with Drupal. Is there a visible error message that you can copy and paste here? Can you place a simple html file in the website root folder and access that?

Thanks for the answer
Thanks for the answer again.
I mean that when typing the address of the website Safari comes up with the answer "Safari can't find the server"
I re-uploaded the host-ready-made simple index.html file, but it doesn't seem to recognise it.
I have one more question about the settings.php file.
Does anyone see something that I shouldn't have changed? (in dots I have the real data!)

My suggestion is to do a fresh install of drupal on the host. Then, if it works, compare settings.php files.
OK, i' ll try that! Thanks
OK, i' ll try that!
Thanks Vm!
Bad news!
Hi,
I am not able to do a fresh install of drupal following these directions
http://drupal.org/documentation/install/beginners
My host doesn't provide support for drupal, so I am at your hands.
In my hosting account the ftp path for saving my site is .../web/content, so this is where Ive placed my files in either failed case.
Any ideas are welcome!
Thanks
In my opinion you should step
In my opinion you should step back form Drupal for a bit and try and get a simple HTML file to serve correctly. The error suggests to me that you might be putting your files in the wrong directory, or you have a DNS problem. Who is your host? Someone else here may have experience working with them.
Your settings look correct for a typical setup, assuming the items replaced by dots are also correct.

Waiting!
I asked some help from my hosting company.
First things first, I'll go for the html goal!
I tried my files in different directories, but this is not the problem.
I even changed the default html file preplaced in the appropriate folder, and it doesn't respond.
I don't know if something is wrong with my DNS, or how I could realise and fix it. So I wait until tomorrows answers from the host.
Any idea is still welcome!
Thanks for your time,
M
Check DNS
at intodns.com or tools.pingdom.com. Both will tell you if your DNS is configured correctly for the domain.
This signature is currently blank
DNS
That was the problem.
The DNS configuration was an old one, as the site was previously hosted from an other company for a while!
Thanks for your help!
I have run into some new problems, but they are irrelevant to the subject. If I need your help, I'll post again!
Thanks for everything!
