Is there an easy way to change the format of am/pm? I have a client (ex English Teacher) who wants the times to appear as 8:00 P. M. or 3:00 A. M. instead of 8:00pm or 3:00am

Unfortunately there is no Date format (check here) which provide A.M./P.M. format but you can have AM/PM instead. Steps to have your custom format are as follows :
1) Go to Configuration >> Date and Time (under "Regional and language" block) >> Add Format (click Formats tab)

  • Submit your user-defined date format string (like 'm-d-Y H:i A' for 04-16-2013 12:29 PM)
  • Next go to "Add date type" and create your date type format by selecting your custom format below from the select list.

2) Go back to your Manage Display of the Content and choose the custom format from the Date field setting
