In the new version of safari (version3), it seems lightbox2 doesnt load properly (i.e. just gives you the blank white page with the image, more than half the time. then sometimes it does work ... just seems completely random). firefox still good as ever but safari maybe just takes too long to load the jquery script? i'd post this in lightbox2 module support and i probably will, but... could be an issue for other jquery thingys out there if safari takes longer to load...
this happenes on the lightbox homepage too when i'm using safari3, not just my localhost. http://www.lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2/
check it out, tell me i'm crazy.
any thoughts?

Not entirely crazy
You're not crazy, at least not entirely crazy. Not as crazy as I am for answering such an old thread.
Lightbox2's compatibility with Safari seems spotty, and varies from site to site, and from theme to theme.
I have two sites using identical module sets but different themes. On one, lightbox2 doesn't work in either Safari 3 or FF 3. Thickbox works in FF3 but not in Safari 3.
On another theme, lightbox2 works in Safari 3 and FF 3, but thickbox works only in Safari and not in FF!
Settings for caching, especially CSS caching, also seem to be relevant. You want at least CSS caching off, especially if you are switching back and forth between jlightbox, lightbox2, and thickbox trying to find one that works for you.
Update lightbox2 weight
Hi -
I ran into the same problem but after a bit of hunting around I've got it working. Apparently the problem with Safari is it's bit picky about the order the scripts are loaded in - so give the lightbox2 module a weight of 1 in the system table and everything should be OK.

Thanks. Seems time has
Thanks. Seems time has evened everything out. Latest version of lightbox works fine with safari 3. I just tested it using the flickr module and all good.
It still not working with video streaming on Safari
Hi,
I understand that it's an old thread but I've just started testing my site and it seems that Safari on OS X doesn't stream the videos.
You told about the setting of priority to one - how to do that? I presume that would be the issue.
thanx
