Views update failing

I am trying to update views to the latest version but it keeps failing. It downloads successfully and then goes through to the update database screen. I click update and get the progress bar at the top but only a fraction of the bar is highlighted and wont progress any further.

Please could anyone tell me what I can do to investigate / resolve this issue
