Just saw this module, and thought of exploring some integration opportunities :)

johnvIMO the main use case is to show a person's calendar, with specific dates.
The main use case of OfficeHours is to show a locality's calendar, without dates.
Other issues in OH's issue queue are requesting date-ly OfficeHours. Most are better off by using a field_collection, or plain events.
I've tested Availability Calendar. IMO that module would benefit from adapting the D7 field API.
I think Availiblity Calender is like a 'feature' with 1) events, 2) referring to a user/contact , and 3) a Views Calender display, 4) attached to a user, probably with EVA.
The new status "won't fix" may sound harsh, but is the conclusion of the above.
