When trying to import nodes I receive the following error. These nodes are associated with an organic group. I think the issue is with how this module treats groups.

An AJAX HTTP error occurred. HTTP Result Code: 500 Debugging information follows. Path: /batch?render=overlay&id=127&op=do StatusText: Service unavailable (with message) ResponseText: OgException: OG membership can not be created in entity node and bundle knavatar_product_display using the field og_group_ref as the field does not exist. in OgMembership->save() (line 50 of /home/knowledg/public_html/stage/sites/all/modules/og/includes/og.membership.inc).

Any suggestions?

Does the site being imported into have exactly the same set up as the site being exported from?

One thing which could be tested - could you export from a test site - and then delete some nodes - and then re-import the dataset into the test site? Since the site set up is identical then issue of missing fields may not be an issue.
