Isn't this a bug? I found that through 2 updates (now at 7.x-1.9-rc1), the previously checked "Administer Superfish" permission becomes unchecked, and this is for the selected Administrator role.
I believe when i upgraded to the dev version before this rc1, that I ended up here because my permission needed to be checked. So that could have been the first version with the permission checkbox. Then when updating to rc1, it was unchecked again.

I'm not sure what you're saying, what do you mean by "previously checked"? the permission didn't exist previously, recently added, so? :)
