Here's how bugzilla does it:

We could extend this to accommodate options like 'needs usability review from...' or 'needs accessibility review from...'

klonos...wtf?

dwwGenerally -1 to more status choices, ever. ;) But, I'll think about this more before I just "won't fix" it...
Also, note that project_issue is responsible for the plumbing, not the sinks. So specific requests for choices for d.o belong elsewhere. If there's a feature here worth considering in general, it's another case of hierarchical status values...

klonosNo, no. The extra drop-down will not constitute different 'postponed' status. There'll still be just a single 'postponed (more info required)' status and the drop-down will control which person gets notified.
klonos...but I see how the word 'statuses' in the issue title was unfortunate. Perhaps this one is better ;)
We can discuss if we can convert the 'assigned' drop-down to an autocomplete field for this purpose instead of adding an extra field. If we did, perhaps we should also figure a way to allow users to quickly populate this field with special tokens like 'issue reporter', 'maintainer(s)' etc.

dwwThis all sounds really complicated, and more suited to tagging. Can you clarify what problem you're trying to solve here? I'm not understanding why we want any of this.
Thanks,
