I have installed privatemsg and my community loves it. It seems to work well, except that 'write to author' appears for some authors and not others. Permissions are properly set, and the appropriate boxes checked in the user module. The users for whom this does not work have both received and sent private messages successfully.

Can anybody help?

When private message installs it seems to check the boxes in the user profiles of all existing users. however, unless you actually re-save the user profile it does not register. (I also unchecked and then re-checked the boxes, but i doubt that that is the issue)

I am not sure if this is a bug or a desirable feature. however it is misleading.

Could you go into more detail on the fix? You had to go in and save every profile? What else did you have to resave?

That works, but is there any solution (maybe a DB update) to enable this for all users? Asking all my users to do that is some kind of...
