I think we need something to simply add a new row and some columns for the editor, that would be a perfect addition to the 'construction kit' approach of panopoly.
The flexible layout builder of panels is too complex and nothing I would show a editor of any site.

charlie charles commentedI agree, panels builder is too complex.
Adding row and some columns is good
providing you can control layout how it display on different devices
For example
You might want a search bar on the desktop version on the right side
iPad the search bar on the top
Mobile search bar hidden
I hope that's helpful :)

designar commentedI'm still searching for an easy way for an editor to add multiple columns in a one column layout.
i.e. if you want to add 3 columns with teasers in the content, you can change the page layout, but that's not the easiest way for an editor.
It would be much better to add an 3 columns element into the main region and then the content into the columns.

charlie charles commentedI'm not sure they made this feature yet
but eventually the layout module will do nested region as shown in this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ek2eyWZPI1c#!
I hope that helps
Comment #5
saltednut+1 and also maybe provide some demo panels layouts using Layout module along with the coded panopoly_theme layouts?
populist commentedThis would be quite nice. Postponing till after RC4, but with breakpoints module soon coming this will be even easier.

dsnopekThe Layout module is super cool! However, I think I'm going to close this as "won't fix" - at least for the Panopoly 1.x cycle, which is going into maintenance mode. So long as we're not doing anything that prevents users from installing and using the Layout module themselves, I think we're good.
Feel free to comment or re-open if you disagree! We can always move this to Panopoly 2.x if/when development on the next generation of Panopoly begins.
