Can Timeline use Date Module Dates rather than Event Dates?

For reasons unrelated to the Timeline module, I am considering converting my Event module nodes to Date Module. I read through the documentation and issue list and played around a little with a view, but can't make Timeline show Date Module dates. Is it possible? Thanks in advance for your time.
