I have noticed that if I type in the direct path to the node (e.g. examplesite.com/node/1) the URL in the address bar is not redirecting to the alias but remains the same. The aliases are being generated and you can reach the nodes through them, in which case the correct URL is displayed.

I have tested the issue and confirmed it still occurs on a clean install with just:
Drupal 7.22 minimal installation
Pathauto 7.x-1.2
Token 7.x.1.5

Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

Sorry being dense. This is a Global Redirect issue (and the clean installation test I did without that module wouldn't work anyway).
