Today my map is disappearing and then coming back. anyone know if this is a google maps issue or what it could be ?

I have a similar problem. Since I have updated to beta5 (and later due to some bugs switched to the dev) I can not edit my maps anymore, as they disappear after that, but do not come back. I am using OpenStreetmap. I cleared the cache but they are still gone. The maps I did not edit still work as expected.

gunwald, can you export one of the working maps, then edit and export again. Please attach both exports to this issue so that we can examine the situation further. If possible state the date or commit of your dev version.
Note that editing maps writes to the database. So backing up and restoring after editing brings the map back that you use for this exports.

If you enable the console of the browser, do you see any error messages?

I'm having same problem. My maps worked after updating Openlayers to beta5 and geofield to 7.x-2.x-dev (http://drupal.org/node/1944074 - had this issue)

Then I went to my map settings, changed markers style and saved - after that my map is not showing anymore. No error messages or nothing.

Found the way to get map work again. I noticed that in map settings (Layers&Styles tab) I had map projection set to EPSG:900913 and that gave in Layers & Styles Base Layers: MapQuest Open Aerial MapQuest’s aerial photo map and MapQuest OSM MapQuest’s rendering of OpenStreetMap. None of those was selected. I set Open Aerial as enabled and default - then map started to work.

But beacuse I have openlayers stylemaps installed and my map should have custom colors I chose Map projection to EPSG:3857 and then selected from Base Layers Google Maps Normal and set it to enabled and default - now my map works with custom colors etc!

Very nice map and glad that you have found a solution.

I might use the "Hover behavior" from, it might help you.
This is a behavior that you enable on a vector layer and features react when you pass hover them with the mouse.
You can select another style or the same style but bigger... a lot of combinations is possible because styles has a lot of properties.

Thank you for the great support! A can confirm, that #6 solves the problem.

EDIT: But I have one further question (sorry I am not in expert on this): After I set MapQuest OSM as default and enabled it, the map works again, but the rendering is very different as it was before. It used to look like this: http://en.sightsrank.com/node/57511

And now looks like this: http://en.sightsrank.com/distance/948?field_geofield_latlon%5Bradius%5D=0.3

Why is that so and how can I change back to the rendering shown in the first example?

The maps on both page use the same style. It the default style of OpenStreetMap using Mapnik and not MapQuest's style. Please verify “MapQuest OSM” is selected as it looks like “OSM Mapnik”.

If this does not solve your problem, attach screenshots of both maps and the exported map configurations.

This problem has coincided with my upgrading to the latest version of ctools, could it be related?

I put back the old ctools and ran update on a mirror site http://173.226.70.152/pndesign/grantee_map and the map came back.

the one where it doesnt work is http://173.226.70.152/pn/grantee_map

could it be because of the ctools?

You have double checked your maps settings what I wrote in #6? Tested with other Layers & Styles Base Layers -settings?

Sudenly the map is working again in both places . I had tried #6 before and it didnt help , but now when I looked they are working again

Now this is really bizare. on the pndesign site I had click on "open layers source type" as External to see if that helped. (it did fix it)
but when I went to the pn site it was changed there to external also ( I hadnt done that - is it working session variables or something?) and now I cant change it to internal since that choice no longer shows up (I'm attaching a screen shot ) . there is no button to change it to internal . I need it to be internal because of firewall reasons.

well , without doing anything , suddenly it switched to an internal map and didnt show up again. I clicked on "external" and it works again, but the button to switch it to internal doesnt show up.

Don't forget to clear your caches each time you add,modify or remove something from sites/all/libraries.

of course I do that, but I hadnt changed anything there anyways, the same openlayers folder that has been there for a month is still there.
