Type: Outreach Journalism
Author: a...@rocktreesky.com

With the newest version of Drupal about to be released we need an article ready for publication that talks about what Drupal is and the new changes coming in Drupal 6.

This task will involve interviewing the founder of Drupal, Dries Buytaert, about Drupal and its history as well as the new things coming in Drupal 6. Then write an article based on the interview. The article needs to be a minimum of 300 words long and will be published on the Open Source Community (opensourcecommunity.org) and Drupal.org websites.

The task will be complete once it has been reviewed by a member of the documentation team, and the article has been posted.

Title: #20: Write an interview article with Dries Buytaert, project founder » GHOP #20: Write an interview article with Dries Buytaert, project founder

-Personally, I've learned to use HTML, but the bulk of my web knowledge is how to install and use various content management systems. What skill level did you have when you started Drupal, and how did your knowledge grow as the project progressed?
-What is it that you do each day for Drupal?
-What will Acquia do as a business, and how will it allow you to concentrate on being the leader of Drupal?
-How does the Drupal Association help the project?
-What are some of the more exciting uses for Drupal that you have seen recently?
-How have companies such as Lullabot and Bryght contributed to Drupal?
-You stated in another interview that Drupal's goal is to "empower end-users so that they don't need to hire a developer or a designer to create a Web site". Do you think Drupal has accomplished this?
-How has Drupal worked with other open source projects?
-Has the addition of installation profiles in Drupal 5 turned out to be a useful/successful improvement?
-Drupal 6 has improved internationalization support. Why is this a critical move?
-Drupal 6 includes a completely rewritten menu system- what does this mean for the average user?
-What usability improvements are included?
-Drupal 6's support for OpenID has been widely praised; do you see OpenID truly becoming an important part of tomorrow's web?
-What's in store for Drupal 7?
-How is drupal.org going to change in the near future?
-What is the current status of Drupal and PHP 5, and how will that change in the future?
-How will "essential modules" such as Views, CCK, and Panels play a role in Drupal's future, core or otherwise?

Some were personal questions that I just wanted to ask for myself, especially the first.

Wow, great questions! I really like the personal ones especially. :) And those are really big issues that the community wants to know more about. Great job.

As mentioned on the task, we'll give this another 24 hours or so and then mark it complete based on the interview questions. Poor Dries is very busy and might not have a chance to respond for a bit, and we don't want to tie you up from taking on other tasks. :)

I sent a mail to Dries and he said he would respond to the questions ASAP,
however also that it might be a few days before he gets a chance. I interpret this to
mean that he read them and didn't find anything funny with them. ;) Therefore, I'm
going to close this task and give credit to birdmanx35, although I'd really
appreciate it if you could follow-through on posting them somewhere after you hear
back. :)
