After these posts I realised biggest problem with Drupal 7

Drupal 7 try's to focus you away from
hand coding a layout like you do with Joomla or wordpress templates

There is no core layout design module for Drupal 7
and everyone needs it. So all the developers come up
with their own answers to this

There's the problem basing Spark on Panel's
it's not a core module. So it doesn't get as many updates
or the level of support it needs

Thanks for calling that to our attention. We are not actively working on the layouting capabilities for Drupal 7 at the moment. We are working on Drupal 8 and backporting those features to Drupal 7. Since we are not working on layouts for Drupal 8 core either, we are not backporting any improvements to Drupal 7 either. We might return to layouts later this year or sooner depending on any financing from interested parties.
