When I generate the XML sitemap, a node I have long ago deleted still shows up in the map.
I have cleared the cache a dozen times.
Drupal tells me "The requested page "node/22" could not be found."
I have deleted the sitemap and regenerated it a number of times.
I just can't get rid of this node that doesn't exist from the sitemap.
Thanks for any help.

Life just gets worse.

I decided "If you can't beat them, join them," so I gave the deleted node/22 I couldn't remove from the xml sitemap the role (and url alias) of "sitemap.html".

The URL: ../sitemap.html shows the expected page.
The URL: ../node/22 redirects to sitemap.html as expected.

The new XML site map generated still contains just plain old "node/22" (not the proper URL alias).

Ok, I'm the stupid one (no surprise there I guess). I didn't realize I was "off drupal." I needed to clear the browser cache to see the current status of the file.
