organisation are not globally visible in the site
for the time being when one click on an organisation tag on gets to a term page
http://dev.wsf2008.net/eng/taxonomy/term/156
this page displays the description of the organisation among actions tagged with this organisation this is fine, but allows to see one organisation at a time
the table could display the organisation - the number of people that mention it in their profile - the number of action that mention it in their profile( with links to their names )- the number of people that have declared to be representative of it ( with links to their names ) ( with links to the description made by each of them)
this has the same level of priority as showing a table of participants

Good point. On it.

Thanks Ben
the list of organisation in taxonomy is currently 7 page long
http://dev.wsf2008.net/es/admin/content/taxonomy_manager/1
#3
and let us not forget the network level in this -
http://dev.wsf2008.net/es/admin/content/taxonomy_manager/7 (already one page )
this means
1/ in the organisation list, in an organisation item : mention of networks if any , in the organisation profile
2 / list of networks and their representatives etc..and the organisations inside them,
#4
how are things progressing ?
see my comment in
http://drupal.org/node/192331
#5
Network, Federation or Social Forum organising committee

Organizations

thanks Ben , that is a good start
however
the initially expressed requirement was
for network
to have access to the list of organisation mentionning them as network
there could be a double link "network name"-+
when clicking on "network name"you get to its description(s)
when clicking on + you get to the list of organisation mentionning "network name" as one of their network
same for organisation
to have acess to
all the people mentionning it in their profile a sorganisation
all the actions where the org is mentionned as organisation
there could be a triple link "iorganisation name"-+ lu + la (list of users) ( list of actions)
;-)

of course navigating through the links helps .. a bit,- but even this requires more features
1/ need a "search" text facility as is done in "action spaces menu" or "find action" menu
2/ need to have a signal by the name indicating if
-D if there there is an organisation description (however tiny)
-A if there is an action
so we know where to click for good info
for instance
"orga name" A D means there is both
" orga name" means there is only a mention by a user
"orga name" D means there is a description
etc
3/ where is this page made accessible to users ? i suggest a directory item in my participation menu
see http://drupal.org/node/204598
4/ now some miscellaneous , after some browsing :
some action(spaces) have several places .... how come ?
for instance this "arci" action space here bizarre
http://www.wsf2008.net/eng/node/1658
here actions are appearing twice
http://www.wsf2008.net/eng/place/2311
here i access the name but there is no contact because the user is not visible

see comment 7 and 8 and the issue asking to put a directory item in the information menu

Besides all that Pierre has listed in comments 6 and 7, I add:
1. Network, Federation or Social Forum organising committee
http://www.wsf2008.net/eng/taxonomy/vocabulary/7
There is no description above the columns and it is not clear in what order they are. Please specify - maybe one column better, with website and description per each line
Limit the list to x (20?) and put a "more" link to continue the list
2. Organizations
http://www.wsf2008.net/eng/taxonomy/vocabulary/1
Two columns here are very confusing - also here need description ("Organisation name") at begining of column.
Instead, I would add country in each line

On 2. Organizations do not necessarily have countries.
I don't quite see the advantage of one column.
The tech behind this is http://drupal.org/project/taxonomy_list for anyone who wants to play with it, test its limits, or suggest an alternative.
We can generate the lists with straight SQL of course but the basic fact is that organization or network names can have a one-to-many relationship with many things - people, action spaces, and (derived from that) the places people or action spaces are in.

now we have page http://www.wsf2008.net/eng/node/2136 , and the idea would be to give more effectiveness to directories, creating the possibilities described in comment 6 and 7 (and creating one line per item not two columns lists without any complementarty info)
in the user directory :
-give access to the list of action space the user is registered in ? or at list the number of them ( to spot people involved and others just being there
-give a signal meaning the person is not accepting to be directly accessed by mail through the site

1.
Country listing - erroneously goes to the Organisation list.
Countries : Numbers of registered participants, number of actions
2.
http://www.wsf2008.net/eng/taxonomy/vocabulary/1
The Organisation listing as it is is not understandable: as mentionned in previous comments of the issue, instead of 2 columns, listing the organisations only by title one after the other (it looks like the second column is a description of the first - very confusing), it should be 1 column, with a Header at the top (Name of organisation) and any other info on that organisation if people have filled it in.
And of course, it would be better not to have one neverending page, but one with next and previous or a skip to letter A B C D E F G .... to allow people to search for organisations in an immediate way.
3.
Participants listing - Here (as already requested), the Statements column must only have a 1-2 line teaser and [...] leading to the rest of the statement. The effect now is that when there is a long statemente, the whole list is disrupted (eg: http://www.wsf2008.net/eng/view/participants?sort=desc&order=Participant... -- about half way through)
4.
Network listing - same observation of point 2 - should be only 1 column.
