GHOP superstar bjtitus did a phenomenal job of taking screenshots of all Drupal 4.7/5 themes. See http://drupal.org/node/197217. The absence of these images is hands-down one of the most complained about things on drupal.org.
Now, we need to actually go through and attach them to project pages and insert the images in the project page so they show up. I would love to make this a GHOP task, but my impression is that the person has to have "administer nodes" in order to get this done, which is quite a lot of perms for someone we don't know very well yet.
Also, it strikes me that some sort of automated script would be far faster than tying up human cycles for eons and eons clicking "upload" and hand-editing HTML. :P
Any ideas, especially about how this might be possible for a GHOP student to take on?

michelleUsually the screenshots point at CVS, so don't they need to become part of the project rather than being uploaded to the project nodes?

dwwOh please, let this be someone's opportunity to fix http://drupal.org/node/49575 !!!

dman commentedYes, I thought they should live in the CVS checkout - although binaries stopped working (for me) there a while ago. Makes most sense, as the filenames really must be consistant. Should in fact be rolled into the distros, no?
Yeah, I know, that's an even bigger job.
Um, failing that, isn't this a job for image_attach? I love image_attach, and the permissions wouldn't be too bad. We can skip the 'administer and full-html problems that way. I guess, but I don't know the infrastructure.

michelleBumping down the priority on this. It's not technically fixed, yet, but is in the process. Image attach has been added and the theme maintainers are able to use it. In addition, VeryMisunderstood has volunteered to do any themes that the maintainers don't do themselves. So status is "nearly fixed" ;)

dman commentedYay. Image_attach is the best fix, and if the theme contributors can just use it, I'm sure that will help heaps.
