Technical Communication Initiative (TCI)

This is a project/initiative under consideration by the Documentation Working Group (DocWG). It has not been officially adopted yet.

Details

The goal of this initiative is to attract more technical communicators to the Drupal community so that we have a larger pool of people with tech comm training available to work on the docs and to improve doc tools.

The TCI strategy has two components: outreach and tools

Outreach

• Engage with the tech comm community (i.e. outside of Drupal) to understand how Drupal can better meet their requirements
• Participate in tech comm events such as STC annual conference, Open Help, DITA etc
• Encourage the use of Drupal as a teaching tool for university/college tech comm programs
• Develop an internship program on drupal.org for technical communicators

Tools

• Create a turnkey distribution which will allow people to quickly test Drupal's potential as a tech comm solution
• Make the planned drupal.org docs subsite a showcase for Drupal's tech comm capabilities.
