The Module only works for me when the path is "sites/all/libraries/colorbox/colorbox/" but not "sites/all/libraries/colorbox/" as described.

The Libraries module is not needed with the 7.x-1.x branch.

I strongly recommend you move to the 7.x-2.x branch however, that’s where all new stuff happens.
