A lot of forums have the ability to mark a thread with a tag - so rather than the usual image (in this case, "forum-default.png" and similar) there would be an icon denoting the topic of the thread. On some forums these are smiley faces or lightbulbs or questions marks. On others they are small images saying, perhaps, "Cars" or "Films" or whatever is relevant to the thread topic.
(Additionally, some forums allow threads to be filtered by tag, so for example only car-related threads would be shown in an otherwise busy forum. Only mentioning it, though. I don't know if that would be easy to implement or would cause conflicts with existing features.)
I'd find this pretty useful, and I'm sure many others would as well. Despite a few teething troubles, this has quickly become my favourite forum module for drupal!

daniel.hunt commentedThis is quite a good idea.
I'm a regular user of another messaging board system, and they have this functionality too. Now, I never actually _use_ it myself, but its certainly a nice addition to have.
Thanks :)

jonnyplunder commentedI just thought: an extension of this could be unique forum icons. Maybe, I dunno if that'd be as useful.

jonnyplunder commentedForgive me for bumping this, but I thought I'd ask how it's coming along. Colour me interested, that's all!

daniel.hunt commentedI'm torn between releasing the new upgrade for uieforum, which will include a lot of changes, including clean urls, or moving over to Drupal's node system, and THEN releasing, which will also provide clean urls, plus plenty more
Until I figure out exactly what I'm going to do with that, I won't be implementing this :) But I haven't thrown out this idea just yet - I quite like it, so it'll be added!
