Even though the invited person has _definitely_ not registered yet, it is not possible to delete the invitation despite the instructions:

"At any time, you may delete either 'Pending' or 'Expired' invitations. 'Joined' invitation cannot be deleted and count permanently toward your invitation allotment."

I have tested with my own email addresses that are not used for any registered user. I have also had reports from users of fsdaily.com that this is a problem.

Ahem, the current version is 1.13, this has long since been fixed: http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=60554. Consider upgrading.
