Description

Would it be possible to integrate the ssp module with the ecommerce one?
Example: My client is a photographer who wants a nice flash gallery but also want to sell prints of her pics online.
Would it be possible for her to create a gallery and in the xml file you could output a link with variables that the ecommerce module understands.

  1. So if a client sees a pic they like there would be a small button on the corner of the pic.
  2. Once you press it you could have something like LightWindow v2.0 bring up the webcart so you can add the options(dimensions, frame etc etc)
  3. once you went to the shop section you would have the picture you chose linked with the item attributes ready to check out
  4. the owner would then get all the info they needed from the admin section to know what pic needs to get printed

Is this feasable?
Could you give me a quote of what you would charge for said customisation. Or links to resources if it has already been done.

Painting a button on a picture might be hard. but you can set the URL a picture links to by overriding the theme_slideshowpro_xml_image() function.

any one think they could have a go at it?
I need a budget so i can pass that on to my client.

What's the ecommerce solution for the photographer? We sell pictures from our newspaper web site using Pictopia as the ecommerce solution. As soon as I can get SSP working I'm going to tackle integrating the slideshows with Pictopia. If that's something you are interested in let me know and I will post news about the module (or whatever I create) for everybody.

Thanks bro, that sounds very interesting. I had not even heard of Pictopia.
Do you have a site for your newspaper? Are you running it on Drupal?
I think that could work very well. Is there a pictopia module?
I have a friend of mine looking in to it, I'd like to make a module of what ever comes out. Then maybe these can become add-ons to the SSP Mod.
Good luck!

To clearify my previous post: the XML format for ssp allows you to specify a link for a picture - if you click on the picture, you will be sent to the specified link.

It would be great if we could go more and more CCK with slideshowpro. That e. g. if a link field (http://drupal.org/project/link) in a content type is present, this link will be used as the picture link.

We are not on Drupal yet, we're busy building our backend, which will be Drupal based, to manage our site as well as our printed newspapers. Our site is www.sunjournal.com. Soon to be redesigned and in Drupal. We will launch one of our weekly newspapers in July, www.theforecaster.net. Not sure if we will have Pictopia integrated by then.

I will cobble together a Pictopia module soon.
