I'm using the latest devs of ctools, panels, and panelizer 3.x-dev. When I try to use IPE to change a layout on a panelized node I get the following types of error messages when I try this on different pages. Here is what some of them look like:
An AJAX HTTP error occurred.
HTTP Result Code: 200
Debugging information follows.
Path: /panels/ajax/ipe/set_layout/panelizer%3Anode%3A192%3Apage_manager/elmer

If I refresh the page then I can see that layout did in fact change. This happens on panelized nodes and regular Panel pages that have IPE enabled. Note: I can change the layout without an errors with the standard panels editor.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?
Let me know if you need any more information.

merlinofchaos commentedA notice error is causing the JSON output to be garbled and fail because your site is set to display errors directly. You should probably disable that setting, since it can cause other problems for you. I believe that's a setting in your php.ini.
The attached patch should fix it.
gmclelland commentedThank you, it did get rid of the ajax error.
This might be another separate issue, but what is strange is that after choosing a different layout, the preview in the modal dialog shows the new layout but the panes aren't draggable. I thought it shows you a preview where you could drag the panes into different columns before hitting save in the dialog?
Thanks again for the quick response.
gmclelland commentedSince this patch is against the Panels module I'm going to change this issue to the proper queue.
merlinofchaos commentedYou might have something crashing javascript. Check your javascript console.
gmclelland commentedNo errors are appearing in the console. I attached a screenshot of the modal dialog's contents.
merlinofchaos commentedWell, Javascript is *definitely* not firing. Maybe it's theme related? Can you try that in a stock theme?
gmclelland commentedYep, it's theme related. It works fine in Bartik. If I had to guess, I'd say it's almost like it's not loading the additional needed javascript.
Well I'll keep looking into it my theme. Thank you for your help.
gmclelland commentedFigured it out. It was some code in my template.php that was doing js_alter to move the scripts to the bottom of the page.
The patch in #1 is good to go.
gmclelland commentedThis was fixed in http://drupalcode.org/project/panels.git/commit/be8a044a6b4b26597c8781c1...

liza commentedpopping in to say that i had that patch applied and i was still having this problem --and it was EVERYWHERE within panels and panopoly. i finally have narrowed it down to having the DEVEL krumo backtrace error handler on while working with with IPE.
