After upgrade to 5.4: First taxonomy term not showing

Hi there,
I upgraded to 5.4 today, and have some problems with my views now:
For all exposed filters the first taxonomy term isn't listed. Does anyone else have these problems too?

With 5.4, a bug in taxonomy was fixed (http://drupal.org/node/180109). This had the side effect that a workaround in the views module turned into a bug. Check http://drupal.org/node/142347#comment-650634 for my patch to resolve this. I'm linking to this topic, in case the code needs review etc.
