Hi,

I need a person who can upgrade my drupal site.
I will pay him/her $10 via paypal instantly when it has been completed.

It's hosted by godaddy. I will give him/her required password/user id.
Site has adsense, capatcha modules, 100-150 members and 150+ contents.

Please don't ask this job if you are a newbii like me :)
I don't want any problem while and after the upgrade process.
Please only professional guys who know exactly what they are doing.

Hi,

To get the job done, you should also specify what you want to upgrade. Because various instances may different time to upgrade. Updgrading from 4.7 to 5.2 is different task and upgrading from 5.2 to 5.5 is different task.

One more thing none of drupal experts comes less then 20-30$ per hour rate. So I doubt if we can get drupal developers at 10$ rate.

I hope you look on positive side of this.

Please tell me the exact price you ask. I can't know how many hours you will need. You will upgrade version 5.2 to the last one.

Have you tried this http://drupal.org/upgrade/ It is not that difficult if have done some work in past.

In any events cannot advice you to do it by yourself for live site. But you can certainly try.

My dear friend its not that what I want. Its just letting ppl know what exactly you want, modules which you are using also determined how well and quick you can upgrade. If just using core modules its more easy to upgrade whole site. Because modules are also upgraded. So we need to answer is that do we just want to upgrade drupal core or we also want to upgrade all modules to latest versions. But when we upgrade modules it may bring gaps.

Feel free to ask anything.

I have looked at http://drupal.org/upgrade/ before. But there too many warnings like http://drupal.org/node/59375 and http://drupal.org/node/59370 if I use automated scripts. I can upgrade with one click only. I installed this site from a section of godaddy hosting with one click. There are many other site type there like wordpress, openads and so on. I selected drupal and all things had been done by godaddy hosting.

I don't know manual upgrading. I didn't do it before. I am afraid something might go wrong.

I used mysite.com/update. But it doesn't show me new upgrades although I use version 5.2. I think it upgrades only modules not the site version. They say "Drupal database update" and ask to click "run the database upgrade script"

I need to upgrade because I red that using 5.2 is not secure. I also can't track my adsense clicks/ips on my adsense module. I think that its reason is I use 5.2. I am suspicous about 5.2 that might do wrong more things which I don't aware. I should upgrade 5.2 before I face a bigger problems like hacking.

What would you advise me now? Can I upgrade by myself?

Hi,

See it depends on how much time you have. If you have time then take backup of whole system and try it at localhost with same Apache, MySQL and php versions. As you are going to do on localhost and we can always take backup it should not be an issue. But time is important then you need to leave it for some of the Drupal freelancer.

One more thing, modules are revised now and then ( which is key to drupal success ) so you also need to tell developers which modules you want to upgrade besides core.

If things are getting too complex for you, then you need help. But upgrading Drupal is not as simple as it looks. Multiple factors have to be taken in care.
