Having installed this module, the following patch (to prevent duplicate content submission) has stopped working. It's a shame because that is of greater importance to me so I have had to disable this module.

Sorry, no idea. If you look at the code this is really a simple module, and skimming through that patch I can't really tell what can be causing this. Of course, if you find a solution that can be applied to the module, please post it here. Thanks.
