Front Page Manipulation

I will be quite frequently updating the front page of a website, but I have little notes on the front page that vary for each role. So, I have 2 ideas for a new feature that could be implemented into Front Page.

1) Create a global front page textarea, this will be the front page for all users. Then, allow the textareas for specific roles to append to the global area (or overwrite the global area, which is like how it is set up now). This will allow me to quickly change the main global area, however it will still leave my customized content per role to append to the global content.

2) Or add another option to the select type that says "same as authenticated user and append". When selected, this will treat the authenticated user settings as the main content, and then append the content for that specific role to the authenticated user content.

What are your ideas for this? Also, with the addition of append, you can easily add prepending as well to help UI customization.
