What is the status of the Xstatic module? Has Keith dropped the issue or is it stuck in the pipeline?

See http://drupal.org/node/15223 for more information on Xstatic

Never made it to sandbox status from what I can see. My guess would be that it is now propietory code.

Carl:

Thanks for the update on Xstatic. Yup, some things start out with a big bang and end up with a wimmper..... Too bad as Xstatic could have been most useful.....

Perhaps you could mail them, maybe they just don't have the time to add it.

I'll email Keith and let everyone on this thread know about his response (unless someone already beats me to this). The Xstatic module sounds very useful to my site, so hopefully they'll share it in some form... we'll see.

According to Keith, they have had a very busy time lately, but are planning on releasing this module pretty soon (it sounds like it works great, etc. but they just haven't had time to send it through the proper channel on the Drupal side of things.)

Oh, I need to add that you shouldn't get excited yet... this may take some time... but good things come to those who wait.

Any other news on this? I'd love to try this out.

maybe author died... or could author post and say he dropped it, so someone else can do it?

I need to add Java Doc pages to my site. Xstatic looked like the way to go, but apparently it isn't going to be available anytime soon.

Is there an alternative method to link static pages into Drupal?

Thank,
Eric H.

I see that the last query on the xstatic module was a couple of months ago. I did check out the staticHTML module on Hivemindz, but it sounds like the module Linuxjournal created allows for broader content. I think it would be more useful to my needs.

Has anyone hear the latest?

I'll send to you what I found.

Could you post what you find please. Thank you.

Is there some kind of ethical issue here? The creator of the module seemed to want to release it himself, but passed a copy to me when I asked (so I've been sitting on it for a while-- thinking that it would be released in the near future-- this obviously hasn't happened).

I don't think it would be right to post it, as the module's author seemed to only want to make it available in a more limited manner; by sending copies to those who are interested. If I get his blessing I will.

In fact, I have e-mailed him to make sure it's all right to share with a few of you by e-mail.

Let me hear your suggestions. I don't want to anger anyone. It seems like the open source GPL would dictate that modules developed for Drupal are also open source, but I don't know what the issue might be here. Clarification on xstatic?
