Hi,
I am new to Drupal but not new to CMS. I am testing for two months now several ASP.Net content management systems and i have ran out of new ones without finding a good one for my specific needs, so I gave up on my fix idea to build a ASP.Net website. This way i came to know about Drupal and i like it! I want to develop my website with drupal but i don't know which version to use. Drupal 6.0 seems very close to be released and i don't want to build my site with Drupal 5.5 and then when i finish it 6.0 is out and i guess its pretty complicated to update from 5.5 to 6.0. Now my question is, should i just use the latest release, 6.0 beta 4 to develop my website? Is it easier to update from the beta release to the full 6.0 release? Is it stable enough?
Thanks,
Andrei

6.3 wasn't
6.3 certainly wasn't.. I think it would be a brave decision to go with 6.4 beta if it was a 'production' site, particularly due to the amount of patches you might need to apply..

Drupal 6 is not ready and shouldn't used for a production site. Read the project page, specifically what is in BOLD
also note that there are still 16 critical issues pending against Drupal 6.0 Beta 4. Drupal 6 is released in beta for bug testing and patching only.
If your site is going live any time soon, you should build using the Drupal 5 release.

thanks
Hey my impression about this project is getting even better. I got 2 new replies within 10 minutes!:)
Thank you for your quick reply. I will use 5.5 after all but just for the record, in about how much time would 6 be released? Should i just wait for it? And if i do build with 5.5 is it complicated to update? I have had many problems with other cms to update from a version to another resulting in many bugs and...headache, i would rather wait if it would be such a pain to update it.

There is no release date set for Drupal 6, outside of when its ready.
There are still RC releases to get through. The modules will need to be updated to Drupal 6 which also takes some time. How much time? Depends on the maintainers and users of module that need to be updated and how quickly patches are created.

Updates
I've used Drupal for years and it isn't hard to update at all, so don't let 6.0 scare you away from 5.5. ;)
Multilinugal Content
Hi!
I have the same question but with regard to multilingual content. As i understand the situation the two i18n modules are replaced by drupals own support. Would i be able to upgrade to version 6 without hassle?
Thanks
