It would be nice if the Image Media Field could link to a local image type (jpg, tiff, ...) with maybe standard link type (html href=, img=).

Can you please explain what you are trying to do in a bit more detail? Specifically, what do you mean by "link to a local image"?

If I have the images saved on the local server than I want to link to this images. Certainly this is possible with normal HTML in body fields but with this feature in the EMF makes it possible to have one content type for all gallery types: flickr, picasa, native file-system, ...

this works w/ video. there's a similar request for images. could take the custom_url.inc file in video_cck and make it work in image_ncck. postponing till after d6 version release.
