This patch will add an additional settings for Masquerade, which allows us to limit roles so admin can Masquerade as any user in that particular role only. Since its checkbox, multiple roles can be selected.

I would like to re-open this feature request as this is what I was coming here to ask for.
From what I understand this is different from the solution above which would not make you change user but just adjust your role right?
I need to actually be able to switch to a specific user, but I would like the autocomplete to only suggest among the 200 clients I have, not the 200 000 total users...

Thanks for working on this. In an attempt to help the maintainers, I am going through some of the Drupal 7 issues, and closing them, since Drupal 7 is EOL.

Maintainers should grant credit for the great work to the relevant users, even if the patch did not get committed: https://www.drupal.org/docs/develop/issues/issue-procedures-and-etiquett....

Since Drupal 7 is EOL, we can probably close this issue, but feel free to re-open if this is still relevant, and we should consider adding this to the Drupal 11 version?
