Possible to visualize non-hierarchical information?

I've been researching this and can not find the answer. Does Hypergraph make it possible to visualize non-hierarchical information? In particular, a social network in which multiple people know each other; I am envisioning a visual web as opposed to a visual menu tree. Thanks!
