For the dev release it would be great if you could check the checkbox that it is supported. That would stop the annoying message in the update screen.

It is marked as supported. I'm not sure what else to do. I don't want to release a stable release really until D8 is out, but I may need to re-evaluate that.

How about adding an alpha or unstable release? It's not a huge deal just an annoying thing to see on the updates page.

I had intended to release versions that matched the D8 alphas/betas as they came out, but I figured I would have too many releases without much actually updated. I could get behind releasing an alpha now. A beta, RC, and then official when D8 does the same.

I was thinking of suggesting matching alphas, but the general public doesn't know that there are alphas of d8. I think your plan sounds good.
