elv commentedIt seems to me "posting right on the spot" doesn't make sense in most cases in Drupal, because the "spot" can be determined in a lot of ways: menus, taxonomy terms, views context... So it is possible that the new page you create will "be somewhere else" in the end, and it will be confusing.
Say you are on a taxonomy list, displaying all the nodes with the term "turnip". You click to display a full node, then create a new content there but give it the term "tomato". The new node won't be listed in the same "spot".
It makes sense in a fixed hierarchy though, and there's something similar to your idea in book module.

Bevan commentedThere is some work going into improving this usability bug. It would be great to get something in for d7. See 'menu parent selector' videos on Kent Bye's Blip tv video cast for demonstrations; http://kentbyetech.blip.tv/

shija03 commentedI understand about taxonomy and categorization, but when the menu is as long as drupals, perhaps we should place multiple drop-downs rather than just one large one. Since the menus are cascaded, we could - using Ajax (jquery or anything else), create a dynamic form - couldn't we?
As I said, it is a pity that the interface is making it a bit harder, when in reality, with so many talented people, it could be made easier.

Bevan commentedshija, agreed! :) Please feel free to submit a patch for 7 :)

shija03 commentedBeing a newbie on Drupal I'm still trying to get my Drupal project running - I'll get right on making this patch ;-) the moment I understand how Drupal works, and I can make my project materialize (I'm trying hard, but can't find what I need... :-( )
