Folks,

It would be nice if when the software was supplied the URL of a Vimeo user or channel, that it displayed the latest video on that channel, or for that user. Nice module, BTW!

This is interesting idea, however we need to find out how many people find this useful. Personally I feel like this is more unique feature. The module, both D7 and D8 allows to create custom providers. If you provide a patch I will review it and provide feedback and possibly add it into Video Filter module.
