I might even suggest instead of update that you disable the 1.x series, use the Delete tab of module management and choose to delete the module, remove the module from the disk before extracting the archive of 2.x. I would probably also use 2.x-dev to take advantage of yet to be released updates.
That said, please review the other issues discussing multilingual sites.

bardill commentedFirst: many thanks for the reply.
I can post the screenshot of the error in the nexts hours.
I do not delete 1.x series but i unistall it and i think this action delete the 2 table in the db (is this the correct way, confirm?).
Yes, i can use the dev release also if i need only a basic feature of this module.
NB: For the prefix - i use the prefix for all languages but not for the default (english) - can i have a problem for this?
Really many thanks.

Anonymous (not verified) commentedYes, Uninstall tab is correct.
Please review the other multilingual issues. You'll save yourself some WTF grief.
I've never used or configured multilingual sites. You may need some help from some modules like i18n or others. You should be able to have no prefix for the default language and things work.

This is the during the update from 6.x-1.2 to 6.x-2.0-rc2, see below - what do you think?

Anonymous (not verified) commentedA known issue. IIRC, someone submitted a patch in another ticket.

bardill commentedHi Ernie, so i try to use the 6.x-2.x-dev (your suggestion) for my large multilingual website.
After enabled the module i see that the xmp map for the default languages is auto-created.
Now my question: to create the xmp map for the other languages (now i'm testing a site with 2 languages) i have to do add XML sitemap and set the languages?
The final result (see the attachment) is to have 2 sitemap (see the attachment!) - 1 for every language? Is this output correct?
(Other question: my site is already verified with google/google analytics but anyway the best is use again this module? https://drupal.org/project/site_verify)
