Good morning - I've done a bit of front end work on a Drupal 6 site, and I've also setup Linux and installed Drupal 6 from scratch - so I'm familiar with at least Drupal 6.
I'd like a drupal site setup to do two things:
1) Have a blog or blogs.
2) Have the ability to upload, crop/resize and share pictures based on user ACL.
And that's it. I can handle all of the front end as long as I know what template files to create. I just need someone to install Drupal 7 at my hosting provider, and set it up so it's ready for people to register, and for me to design and attach to the photo and blog functionality.
Please only respond if you've done this before -- I need it to be configured correctly with tested and reliable modules. I don't want extra modules I don't need - just a stream lined, fast site.
Drupal 8 is fine too if someone is wanting to experiment with that. I don't care.
Thanks!

I wouldn't use D8 Yet
The first production release of D8 isn't schedule until the latter part of this year. Unless you aren't publishing the site until then, I wouldn't recommend creating a new site in D8 right now.
Drupal 8
Thanks for the info on Drupal 8.
There isn't a huge rush on this site, so if anyone does want to do it in eight, I can wait for the production release. Not a big deal. I'm open...to seven or eight. If there are advantages that eight will bring, I can wait.
Photos
I am interested in how this goes for you, let me know if you get something setup. I have been mainly using the default modules in Drupal 7 for photos I set to a predefined size in order to provide a similar look throughout.
