An error occurred during a connection to localhost:8888. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.

Hi,
I got this message when attempting to update some modules:

An error occurred during a connection to localhost:8888.

SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.

I was getting this on my server enviornment, so moved it to local, thinking it may be my hosting company...but, I get the same message locally.

I did set this:

$conf['securepages_enable'] = FALSE;

in settings.php, but that didn't help either.

Any ideas?
